Working out of the creatively charged Spells’ Lab in a converted Airstream trailer, Good Spells fuses nostalgic nuances of solo synth and sample work with ambient sound design and dark-pop aesthetics. With a background in producing for others and overseeing commercial recording studios, his solo venture embodies a passion for alt-genre, synth-driven music, and traditional song-writing.

How would youclassify your music?I mix experimental production with mainstream aesthetics. I’dsay it’s classed as ‘Dark Pop’ or ‘Alt Pop’ with veins coursingwith electronica.
Who are some of yourtop 5 musicalinfluences? The Prodigy, TOOL, London Grammar, Glitch Mob, Sleep Token.
What do you want fansto take from yourmusic?I want the usual connection… for fans to be moved by the musicitself, but I want the message of the songs to also connect. Thislatest release, speak on grief and losing someone.
What is the best concert you have been to? Prince, before he passed.
Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why? The single, Time Again.

How have you evolved as an artist over the last year? Getting my engineering chops up! I’m starting to engineer all of my own stuff.
If you could meet, playa gig, co-write a song,have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be? Bat For Lashes… maybe. I think we could connect, and make an incredible song.
What’s next for you? To keep creating. It’s that simple. Both musically and visually, where my videos mean a lot to me also.
